Things Given and Things Worked For

“For all the promises of God are “Yes” in Christ.” ~ 2nd Corinthians 1:20

It’s very disheartening to me when church services and messages become a lot more like some of the network marketing pitches I have heard being sold with all their bells and whistles whose reality, in the end, become contingent on one’s own ability to buy and sell something.

I’m not a salesman, never have been and have no desire to be one.

All I have received from God has been freely given.

In network marketing, it all comes down to if you can buy or sell something. If not, you will never receive any of that organization’s promises.

In Christ, All the promises are already Yes and Amen.

Now please let me add that if God has given you an ability to sell things and he has graced you in this for your livelihood, Amen and so be it… Just realize that all are not as driven in this arena as others may be.

Wherever God has gifted YOU… Find that and do that.

Not for the money but for the purpose of that God-given gift.

“Give as freely as you have received!” ~ Matthew 10:8

If people support you in this, Praise God!
If they don’t, still Praise Him!

“Grace and peace be multiplied to you through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. Through these He has given us His precious and magnificent promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, now that you have escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.…” ~ 2nd Peter 1:2-4

“The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” ~ John 10:10 (that was Jesus)

The Apostle Paul warned Timothy of certain kinds of people.

“These people always cause trouble. Their minds are corrupt, and they have turned their backs on the truth. To them, a show of godliness is just a way to become wealthy.”

~ 1st Timothy 6:6

Although the promises of God do involve provision and prosperity, let’s not get it twisted and dumb it down to that alone. The Promises of God are that and so much more.

For me personally, I believe The Greatest Promise of God is The Promise of The Holy Spirit and all the fruits, gifts, power and wisdom that come with Christ’s indwelling Spirit…

Paul further implores Timothy;

“Those who want to be rich, however, fall into temptation and become ensnared by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction.…”

~ 1st Timothy 6:8

And then he tells Timothy;

“But you, O man of God, flee from these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith.”

~ 1st Timothy 6:11-12

He says as well in his letter to the church in Corinth:

“Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit”

~ 1st Corinthians 14:1

The things of Earth obtained with work, wealth and riches perish just like our money and bodies do but the things of God given to us by His Spirit …

They Are Eternal.

Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Wisdom, words of knowledge, increased faith, administration, gifts of healing, the gift of miracles, prophecy, the discernment of spirits, tongues, and the interpretation of tongues.

These are not things sold or bought or even worked for…

They are given to us freely by God when we sincerely ask.

Although health and wealth are promises that we have in Christ and Thank You, Jesus, for that… Let’s not forget what The New Covenant has said and has promised us to be based on even better promises.

Christ’s Spirit. Christ in Us. Our Hope of Glory!
