Dancing in Church

“Then Miriam the prophet, Aaron’s sister, took a timbrel in her hand, and all the women followed her, with timbrels and dancing. Miriam sang to them: “Sing to the LORD, for he is highly exalted. Both horse and driver he has hurled into the sea.” ~ Exodus 15:20

In response to her peoples miraculous deliverance from Egypt their oppressing enemy, Miriam took up her tambourine and began to dance, I’m sure no less inhibited as David danced before The Ark of the Covenant or any less zealous than how many women in the city would dance and celebrate in the streets at the return of their King and all of their brave, young men returning home from winning a victorious battle.

This is history…

When I see women or men picking up flags, tambourines and ribbons and I see them begin to dance passionately before The Lord our King during Worship, either trained or untrained, whether with great discipline or free like a lily in the wind…

And even better when I see the children following them….

I think to myself from behind my harp… Wow, this is what people celebrating their freedom and deliverance looks like and this is how it feels to celebrate Our Abiding King!!!

In this kind of atmosphere, He is Very Present…
