The “Abomination of Desolation” is not an antichrist who will set himself up in a future rebuilt temple in Jerusalem. The abomination that causes desolation spoken of in Daniel chapter 9:27 and then spoken of again by Christ himself in Matthew 24:15 is clearly revealed to us in Luke 21:20 when Christ instructed his followers thus…
“When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies,
you will know that it’s desolation is near.”
The reputable historian Josephus writes that when the fist century believers saw this happening in 70 A.D. (The Armies of Rome surrounding Jerusalem) the Christians knew to flee into the mountains and it is legend that not one Christian perished in the horrendous destruction that then took place beginning on the 9th of Av and for the next 11 months. Numbers as high as 2 million Jews have been estimated as being killed that year along with all of the mosaic priesthood, their temple and all of their lineage or elements (See 2nd Peter 3:10).
Keep in mind as well when studying the scriptures that the term Heaven and Earth is what the Jewish people of 30 A.D. would have used when referring to their temple.
