“Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?” ~ Matthew 24:3 (NKJV)
Note The KJV uses the word “world” here and the NKJV uses the word “age”.
This word correctly translated from Greek to English comes from the Greek word Aion (age) not the word Kosmos (world) that would entail the whole Earth.
It was 40 years (one biblical generation) from the year Jesus spoke this (in 30 A.D) to the year Rome sacked The Temple at the end of that age (in 70 A.D.)
