Percentages do mean a lot to me.
In the case of the alleged 2.5 % of undocumented immigrants receiving benefits fraudulently…
That is still a very small number compared to the 42% of Americans in the states currently dependent on Snap and Medicaid.
2.5 % (alleged) not the national emergency and security issue that it has been made out to be…
Sadly, many hard-working and needy recipients of these social services are living now in the constant threat of having these rights to food and health taken away from them because of the over-exaggeration of these much smaller issues that are very manageable and easier to fix with just a little more cooperation and bipartisanship.
As many might say:
“Why throw the baby out with the bath water?”
Many good and deserving recipients of these services of human health and nutrition are living not only threatened and uncertain but also they are being stigmatized by some higher earners and far-right politicians, with degrading comments and mean-spirited judgments of them and their situation.
If a job sector with good health insurance and a livable wage that closes the ever-growing disparity between the rich and the poor, so people’s higher costs of living can be met satisfactorily, isn’t provided… Then a system that cares for our less fortunate, providing them a lifeline and a gleaning opportunity for our poor, is a must.
Anything less than that truly is a “rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer” trajectory that leads to the whole thing getting top heavy and then just like every other empire, it all inevitably falls…
That fall looking like a small group of elites getting away like bandits with generational wealth while leaving all the rest of the people behind in poverty and chaos.
In Christ’s own parable about the shrewd practices of The Roman appointed Jewish King Herod Archelaus, he had said:
“For I say unto you, That unto every one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him.”
– Luke 19: 26
Let’s not be like the 1st century Herods and Emperors of Rome.
Let’s be more like 21st-century followers of Jesus!

People taking care of people is still The Way!
The Way of Our Lord Jesus!
Making all things new!
